June 30, 1973Hershey's Chocolate World opens, replacing the original chocolate plant tour program which had outgrown the plant's visitor capacity. Its primary attraction is a World's Fair type simulated 12 minute tour that explains the process of making chocolate from harvesting cocoa beans to packaging the finished product.
April 03, 1978Chocolate World announces plans for a partial renovation of Hershey's Chocolate World to include several new exhibits and gift shops with a nostalgic theme.

August 15, 1987Hershey's Chocolate World Visitors Center begins $4.5 million renovation. Extensive changes to the automated tour and dining areas are included.

March 01, 1989 Hershey's Chocolate World modifies the Tour Ride. The "visitor" from outer space is removed as are the video monitors from the ride cars. The finale is enhanced with 40 video monitors showing people singing "There is nothing like the face of a kid. . ."
June 30, 1993Hersheypark and Hersheys Chocolate World Visitor Center hold their first parade, the Sweetest Parade on Earth. It consists of a 15-piece band called The Great All-American Hersheypark Marching Band, jugglers and clowns, a baton twirler, and 13 Hersheys product characters.
January 01, 1996 Hershey's Chocolate World opens the Chocolate Town Cafe, its first sit-down restaurant.
January 01, 1998 Hershey's Chocolate World launches its first website.
March 28, 1998 Hershey's Chocolate World opens its new Tour Ride. The tour ride features an updated historical exhibit on the upramp, tropical graphics, additional video monitors showing actual factory operations in the ride sets, and a multi-media finale.

January 01, 2000 Hershey's Chocolate World 's Hershey Cafe is remodeled and renamed Hershey's Courtyard Food Court. The cafe features a la carte meals in a tropical oasis setting.
April 13, 2002Hershey's Chocolate World opens "Hershey's Really Big 3-D Show," a three-dimensional musical film complete with eight special effects such as vibrating seats, rain, wind and dancing bubbles that bring the action closer to visitors in the 250-seat theater.

December 01, 2002 Hershey's Chocolate World opens Chocolate World Times Square in New York City.
April 16, 2004 Hershey's Chocolate World opens Kit Kat "Gimme a Break" Cafe in the second floor of the former Chocolate Town Cafe. The new cafe is part of the new attraction Hershey's Factory Works.
April 17, 2004Hershey's Chocolate World opens "Hershey's Factory Works."  It entertains and informs visitors with a faux assembly line.  The $2.4 million renovation, covering 10,000 square feet, also includes a retail area, a bakery and a 75-seat cafeteria.
June 15, 2005 Hershey's Chocolate World opens Chocolate World Chicago on Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.
April 01, 2006The newly renovated Great American Chocolate Tour Ride at Hershey's Chocolate World reopens . More than 10,000 people line up to see the new tour.
July 07, 2007Hershey's Kisses Brand Chocolates commemorated its 100th anniversary. The Hershey Company celebrated the brand's centennial by unveiling "The World's Largest Hershey's Kisses Chocolate" at a birthday event hosted at Hershey's Chocolate World.

Hershey’s Chocolate World’s Great American Chocolate Tour celebrates its 75 million visitor to the attraction. Sharon O’Donnell was designated as the 75 million visitor.
May 01, 2010The Hershey Company opens a new retail outlet,  Hershey's Chocolate World Singapore.  The venue is located in Sentosa Resorts World at the entrance of Universal Studios Singapore theme park.  [Specific date is unknown.  Event occurred in May 2010.]

Hershey Chocolate World opens Hershey’s Create Your Own Candy Bar. The new attraction is an interactive, hands-on experience that allows guests to select their own candy bar ingredients, see equipment in operation, and design packing for their custom chocolate candy bar.

The Hershey Company announces Retail Is Detail L.L.C. has been awarded the franchise rights of Hershey's Chocolate World in the Middle East and South East Asia. The first Middle East store will open in The Dubai Mall.

The Hershey Company activates 1,092 new photovoltaic solar panels at Hershey's Chocolate World. Central Pennsylvania’s only electric vehicle charging stations are also unveiled at the attraction. Two charging stations will recharge up to four electronic vehicles. One hundred and eighty-two solar panels were also installed on the roof of the Technical Center.

Hershey’s Great Chocolate Factory Mystery in 4D opens at Hershey’s Chocolate World. The attraction replaces Hershey’s Really Big 3D Show.

June 10, 2015Hershey’s Chocolate World introduces a new Chocolate Tasting Experience. Also new is the Amazing Candy Machine. Guests can customize a personal mix of Hershey’s candy from 15 selections.
May 14, 2016Hershey's Chocolate World celebrates the grand opening of the newly renovated tour ride.
December 22, 2016Hershey's Chocolate World welcomes its 100th millionth visitor. The Albert family from Pittsburgh becomes the Mayor of Chocolate World for the day.
December 13, 2017The relocated Chocolate World Times Square store opens. It is located at 20 Times Square, 701 Seventh Ave, New York City, New York. The new store offers a variety of experiences including personalizing Hershey's chocolate bar wrappers, warm baked treats and chocolate beverages at Hershey's Kitchens Bakery, or visit Hershey's largest permanent s'mores experience.
